Buildings and Contents Insurance
Insuring your home is essential. All mortgage lenders insist you have adequate buildings insurance, in order to safeguard the money they are lending. Most lenders now do not insist on you taking their own block insurance. They do, however, reserve the right to charge an administration fee for checking that your policy is adequate if you elect to arrange insurance elsewhere.
Why do you need it? Damage to your property can be costly to repair, particularly when dealing with fire or storm damage. All lenders will insist this type of cover is in place as it is a common condition of any mortgage. Whilst building insurance will protect your actual property, it does not cover all the contents of your home. This type of cover will protect your furniture, soft furnishing, white goods and personal items.
